As safety becomes more of a priority for car buyers, several manufacturers are stepping up to equip their vehicles with more advanced protection systems. Maruti and Toyota, in particular, have recently begun rolling out 6 airbags as standard across multiple models. While this is a step in the right direction, there are still quite a few cars in the Indian market that continue to miss out on this now sought-after feature.

Here’s a look at 10 such cars still offering only two to four airbags as standard in 2025.

S-Presso

Model: Maruti S-Presso
Price Range: Rs 4.26 lakh to Rs 6.12 lakh

The S-Presso is yet to join the 6-airbag club, offering only dual airbags. It also has a mixed safety record, scoring just one star in Global NCAP’s India test, though it managed three stars in its South African version. Safety features include ABS with EBD, ESC (AMT only), hill hold assist, and reverse parking sensors.

Kwid

Model: Renault Kwid
Price Range: Rs 4.70 lakh to Rs 6.45 lakh

Like the S-Presso, the Kwid also gets only two airbags as standard. Its Global NCAP rating for the South African model was two stars. It does pack in features like ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system, reverse camera, and hill start assist for AMT variants.

Tiago

Model: Tata Tiago
Price Range: Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8.45 lakh

Model: Tata Tiago EV
Price Range: Rs 8 lakh to Rs 11.45 lakh

Despite updates, both versions still offer only dual airbags. The Tiago scored four stars in its 2020 crash test. Safety features include ESC, hill hold assist, TPMS, and rear parking camera.

Ignis

Model: Maruti Ignis
Price Range: Rs 5.85 lakh to Rs 8.12 lakh

The Ignis doesn’t offer 6 airbags in any variant. It comes with dual airbags, parking camera and sensors, AMT-only hill hold assist, and rear wiper with washer. It scored just one star in Global NCAP’s test in 2022.

Tigor

Model: Tata Tigor
Price Range: Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.50 lakh

Model: Tata Tigor EV
Price Range: Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 13.75 lakh

Both versions of the Tigor get only two airbags. They share a platform with the Tiago and have a similar 4-star rating under older NCAP norms. ICE variants get a 360-degree camera, while the EV only includes a rear camera.

Triber

Model: Renault Triber
Price Range: Rs 6.15 lakh to Rs 8.97 lakh

The Triber offers only dual airbags on the base trims and four airbags on the higher variants. While it once held a 4-star safety rating (2021), the updated South African version was rated just two stars in 2024. Safety features include ESC, TPMS, and all-seatbelt reminders.

Kiger

Model: Renault Kiger
Price Range: Rs 6.15 lakh to Rs 11.23 lakh

The Kiger, unlike its Nissan sibling Magnite, still doesn’t get 6 airbags as standard. Top variants offer up to four airbags. It holds a 4-star Global NCAP rating from 2022 and includes ESC, TPMS, reverse camera, and traction control.

Punch

Model: Tata Punch
Price Range: Rs 6.20 lakh to Rs 10.23 lakh

Despite a feature-rich update in 2025, the Punch continues with only two airbags. Still, it boasts a 5-star Global NCAP rating, thanks to a strong body and features like ESC, ISOFIX anchors, and rear parking camera.

Baleno and Glanza

Model: Maruti Baleno
Price Range: Rs 6.70 lakh to Rs 9.92 lakh

Model: Toyota Glanza
Price Range: Rs 6.90 lakh to Rs 10 lakh

Both hatchbacks offer 6 airbags only in the top variants. Lower trims get just two. They feature 360-degree camera, ESP, hill hold assist, and ISOFIX child seat mounts but haven’t been crash-tested yet.

Fronx and Taisor

Model: Maruti Fronx
Price Range: Rs 7.54 lakh to Rs 13.04 lakh

Model: Toyota Taisor
Price Range: Rs 7.74 lakh to Rs 13.04 lakh

Much like their hatchback siblings, the Fronx and Taisor provide 6 airbags only on higher variants. Other safety equipment includes ESP, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX, but no NCAP rating is available yet.
